Why is Testing Drugs on Humans

Monday, March 29th, 2010

Medical studies are often in healthy and diseased subjects performed. Human drug testers are needed because there is no comparable representation of the human body that can make this replacement. Especially the reactions to the body unusual, because man-made or unusual combination of materials must be explored to therapeutic agents and related therapies to make marketable. When testing drugs, one subject supports the science, and also contributes to more detailed study of disease patterns.

In Phase I clinical trials of medicines and medical aids can be much easier to investigate in healthy volunteers. Only the results obtained must be transferred later to make sense ill patients.

Medical Research

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

The academic year 2006-2007 saw the training unit and medical research at Grenoble delete courses in theater, replaced by an educational DVD; sessions of questions and answers (two hours per week, “small” groups of 150) allow students to meet their teachers. Similarly tutorials are held each week with glue, resulting in a classification level of any promotion. Students have only 8 hours of attendance at the university each week, posing problems of loneliness, sometimes inducing discouragement or depression. For many courses in theater remained a breath of fresh air daily, for conducting the pressure and maintain a semblance of social life.

Indeed, one of Grenoble was known for the good atmosphere between repeaters and bonuses, and the very low presence of the spirit competition. An investigation by the administration in promoting 2005-2006 showed that about 80% of it was satisfied with the course amphitheater. The reform makes this year even more painful. Note that this principle includes courses during vacations and holidays. But the DVD is presented as a means to enable each student to be equal with the quality of note taking (as opposed to lecture halls which are known to be a place where premiums have difficulty following the course ). The reform of tutorials about it makes unnecessary the preparatory course in making private the same services as these. Other universities are interested in this system that undermines an entire education system.

Medical Student Development

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

  • Following the events of May 68, the assistance of the clerkship was removed, and all medical students followed the training quality practice what the clerkship, became mandatory (the term “external” then disappeared texts, replaced by the term “student hospital”). This corresponds to the ideal university hospital (CHU creation in 1958): Action (externship) and theory (courses at the university) are reconciled in a single curriculum for all. With the law Faure, Medical schools become EBU (then Department from 1984) integrated into a university.
  • This reform, correlated with the overall increase in student population, led to a massive influx of students in the departments of university hospitals. In response, he was then introduced in 1971 a competition for end of first year medical student, with a system of numerus clausus
  • Until the 1990s, any doctor could become a specialist, or through the hospital and selective way of boarding, or through non-selective and university certificates of specialized studies (CES) in lower quality, thus leaving develop a medicine that specializes in speed between two “old internal hospital” and “old heads of clinical hospital” on the one hand, and holders of these other. A reform, therefore, suppressed the ESC medical internship and went to the mandatory “Qualification ordinal” of specialists, through the Diploma of specialized studies (DES), complements the degree of doctor of medicine.
  • Interns were forced to do an internship in “hospital device, that is to say non-academic, part of a Regional Hospital or CHR.
