Definition of Medicine in Austria

In Austria, the European Medicines definition is not yet fully implemented. Medicine is defined as “substances or preparations of substances that are used by the general public perception is that it or the nature and form of marketing is intended for use on or in the human or animal body

  • to cure diseases, ailments, physical damage or pathological symptoms, alleviate, prevent or to be
  • the nature, condition, or the functions of the body or mental states recognize
  • to replace the human or animal body produced substances or body fluids,
  • Pathogens, parasites or exogenous substances ward to remove or render harmless or
  • to influence the nature, condition or functions of the body or mental states. “

Moreover, such items are considered medicines that contain a drug or to which a drug is applied and which are intended for use on or in the human or animal body and substances and preparations of substances that do not have the characteristics, provided they are intended to be used for the manufacture of pharmaceuticals.

Drug Term & European Regulation

Acetaminophen (Oral)
