RISK FACTORS

All those that influence cardiovascular disease:

Hypertension,
Diabetes,
Smoking,
Obesity and
High cholesterol.

In addition, some strokes as embolic stroke, are caused by valvular heart disease and cardiac arrhythmias, hence, the importance of controlling.

PREVENTION

Control the risk factors mentioned.

From a preventive point of view the above AIT are very important, as they often precede more serious injuries, and indicate the need to establish a preventive medical treatment, usually based on low-dose aspirin. (more…)

WHAT IS IT?

The brain depends more than any other body, of an adequate oxygen supply through the movement.
To do this, you have lots of blood vessels and multiple mechanisms to maintain constant the amount of blood flowing through it to ensure good oxygenation of the brain even in abnormal situations.

When the blood vessel of the brain is injured by one or another does not reach the blood properly, what are called strokes?

These are the leading cause of hospital admission for neurosurgical problems.

CAUSES

They are classified into two types, depending on the cause of vascular disease:
